UWA UPDATE ON THE MODERNIZED PAYMENT SYSTEM, BOOKING, AND NEW TRACKING OPPORTUNITIES

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is excited to announce some new developments that have been put in place, including a new modernized payment system, booking, and new tracking opportunities aimed at improving service efficiency and growing our world-class tourism products.

  1. The New In-Plant Payment System at the UWA Headquarters

To ease permits processing, we have introduced an in-plant payment system right at the UWA headquarters reservations office.

This system has been put in place to facilitate all cash payments for UWA services in one convenient location, which will increase efficiency.

Service Hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

For payments to reflect, it will take about 24 hours, and the issuance of permits and other related UWA services will be done after the bank confirmation of funds.

  1. Integration Of New Gorilla Families into The System to Expand the Bwindi Experience

We are excited to officially add two new habituated gorilla families to our gorilla tracking roster within the system. This is aimed at providing more opportunities for guests to connect with nature:

  • The Nshanjare Gorilla Family in the Rushaga Sector
  • The Happy Gorilla Family in the Buhoma Sector

With these additions, UWA will not issue extra gorilla trekking permits.

All bookings for gorilla trekking permits can only be handled through the official system. All our partners should watch the live portal for real-time availability and book their slots accordingly.

  1. The Golden Cat Tracking Experience and Its Booking

Golden cat tracking is one of the newly added adventurous activities on a Uganda safari exclusively conducted in the Kanyanchu area of Kibale Forest National Park, along Ngogo Road.

All bookings for this new safari experience are currently handled manually on the ground instead of using the online portal because it is not yet integrated within the system.

Bookings must be done within a period of 24 to 48 hours before the time of tracking.

For the 5 days golden cat tracking experience, foreign non-residents, foreign residents, and the rest of Africa shall pay a fee of $350 per person, while East African citizens will pay UGX 350000 per person. All payments must be made through official UWA revenue accounts.

UWA will always provide professional game rangers for security and tracking support. However, tourists should come along with their primary guide provided by the tour operators.

We thank you for your continued support and partnership in promoting the best Uganda safaris that leave lasting memories for every traveler.
